SC Raps Tamil Nadu Governor, Sets Deadline to Clear Pending Bills: A Landmark Judgment on Constitutional Silence

This is a crucial verdict. For the first time, the Supreme Court has read into the Constitution a duty of timeliness for the Governor. It bridges a dangerous gap that has often been exploited for political maneuvering.

On the other hand, Raj Bhavan sources maintained that the Governor acted within his constitutional discretion, but declined to comment further on the court’s direction.
